One of the gifts I gave the High School staff at our first team meeting a month ago was a Moleskine journal.
I’ve been enjoying mine for a couple of months, and the team each got one to dabble in, too. The Others (yes, like LOST) in the office have been making fun of the 10 of us running around with journals, but I think secretly they’re jealous. Here’s the fun part – the team has had fun decorating them and Ryanne even has a chopstick holder inside her front cover for her pen. Brilliant!
I’ve learned to keep one page folded down with my “to do” list, and I’ve definitely enjoyed taking notes and having something offline to take to meetings. Of course, they are only as good as the person using them, so you have to deliver, not just write stuff down. Thinking about getting one? Here’s how to set one up, and here’s how to hack one.

Do you prefer the ruled, squared, or plain moleskine?
Ruled this go round … I really want to try both of those other ones …

Ruled moleskines are the best journals around! I have about a dozen at home, so I use a silver sharpie to label the bindings with a description of what’s inside.
I was at Barnes & Noble the other day and saw that a special red moleskine was created just for them. It was sealed so I couldn’t see if there was anything special about it besides the color.
Plain moleskines > the rest. don’t be confined by lines or squares.
Being the techy nerd that I am I prefer the squares. I must confess I used to buy them, but was afraid to write in them. I felt like I needed save them for a special writing occasion. I’ve since gotten over that fear and use them all the time. They are the best.
I’ve been using Moleskine for about 4 months and love them. I have a small one that I use for day planning and a larger one for notes and writing projects.
I have been using Moleskine for about 4 years now. I go through them probably 4 a year. it is my catch all. i call it a “spybook” and you can read anything in it, except the pages that are folded….they can only be read by me or in the presence of me. there is a set of rules in the front. my spybook is my life, i have lost one once, but we wont talk about that.
I prefer the squares….they are amazing.
Looks like Tony IS a sales rep for Moleskine!
What are moleskines? I have heard so much about them, please give me more info. All I know is that I went to Barnes and Noble and they were expensive. But please fill me in.
