  1. I’m a full-time middle school teacher and part-time youth pastor. Don’t you think I should be considered full-time?

  2. The poll should say, “How does your church pay you?” I’ve never seen a “part time” youth worker.

  3. Ha! Brilliant! JG

  4. In 20 years I’ve only served in one church part-time (full time hours) and realized how blessed I am to have full time pay for most of the full time hours I put in.

  5. I have been in YOUth Ministry…dare I say for about 20 years now. I totally agree with Kyle. I have never seen a part-time youth worker. The door is always open, the phone always on, cpu always booted up.

  6. kyle is right… I am a full time at 3/4 pay…. but God is good and provides and I knew what I was getting into.

  7. I couldn’t agree more with everyone else. I’m a fulltime youth pastor. Hours-wise..full tilt. Paywise .. off the chain!!! God gives us the reward..man gives the award (heard that from Denzel Washington).

  8. Love #2 Kyle’s statement……………….. a big Amen to that. Part time pay but full time commitment!

  9. You didn’t really have my catagory–I’m a full time youth volunteer and have been for over 22 years! Paycheck, hmmm, I’ve heard of those but never have seen one. I’m also the full time Special Needs Adult Leader. And then I’m the Administrative Assistant to the Pastor (20 years) and Secretary/Treasurer of the church (18 years). And then I’m blessed with my husband of 33 years, my son, daughter-in-law, four beautiful grandchildren and a special needs adult that we have just become full guardians of who lives with us. But a paycheck, that’s a word I’m not familiar with. I feel blessed to serve a God who helps us get by without the paycheck.

  10. I’m an Associate Pastor who is supposed to do pastoral care for the full congregation, preach at least once a month, coordinate and lead the jr. and sr. high youth groups, coordinate and lead the after-school program for K-6, plan and lead adult classes, and do weddings and funerals as needed… all in 50 hours a week… (To create my job description, they rolled 3 jobs into one.) I’m full time something…I’m just not sure what! The paycheck keeps a roof over my head and ramen noodles on my table, but let’s face it — I don’t think many of us are in this for the “big bucks”! God’s blessings to all who work to further the Kingdom of our Lord!

  11. I’m a part-time voluteer. Never seen a paycheck for it, but I’m availible all the time. Never stop. Always trying to come up with new ideas. It is a never ending task. I also have a full time secular job as well.

  12. Wow! been working with teen’s for the last 15 years.Get a part time pay. God is always showing to trust in Him. He is a Big God Keep the faith remember why we do this. And yes we do not punch a clock.

  13. We are a small church and if someone wants a group, activity, etc… they form it. I was elected youth leader and have a great ‘small’ group of teens from 12years to 17 years old. No pay.. not really part-time.

  14. Tommy
I am a volunteer Youth Director and now taking steps to become ordained as a Youth Pastor. Pray for me. What kind of YW am I? A God fearing, Bible believing, Devil stompping, Demon chasing, Jamming for Jesus, Rock for the Flock Blessed ,, Youth Director.

  15. Not really a category for me in that list. I am a full time youth volunteer. On the side, I am the church administrator [15 hrs -pd], wife of the senior pastor [volunteer :) ] Children’s Director (5 hrs pd). But my heart and love go to Teens. That is where my commitment and creativity is poured. I’ve gotten paid in spades from that ministry… and never received a dime. God is truly awesome!
