Josh GriffinMore PostsSuperbowl Lip Sync – Jordin Sparks

First off, the arrangement of the National Anthem was amazing … such a powerful song with a fresh new sound. Beautiful. Secondly, was it painfully obvious to everyone else that she was lip syncing, or was it just me? Good game so far …

  1. I thought the same thing. I was thoroughly convinced when I noticed that she failed to breath deeply after those “Big Vocals” @ the song’s finale. She needs work live, but there’s no question she’s a gifted singer.

  2. I thought that too until I saw Terry Bradshaw MC-ing the trophy stuff. The signal seemed to be off kilter with the video for the on-the-field stuff. There was a delay.

  3. Could be. I saw her in person once and the girl can sing, I was just surprised at it I guess. Interesting …

  4. I agree with Big Mike. The audio was not matched up with the video. I missed Jordin, but I noticed it with the commish at the end.

  5. we were convinced it was lipsynching. just sounded too clean, too polished for someone out in the middle of a field surrounded by thousands of people.

  6. Neg. on the lipsyncing… I was there. Seriously, our youth group worked a fundraiser at a snackbar and… ya. I saw the performance from the rail right in front of her. Definitely a real, live performance.

    Oh, and great game too.

  7. Sorry AZ Kevin. Listen to the track. Obviously pre-recorded. That’s okay, you don’t have to take down the Clay Aiken poster over your bed.

  8. I found it interesting that the song was available to purchase at 8am on Sunday morning on itunes. Hmmm…
    Josh is Posh.

  9. Interesting what people with HD will say just because they have HD… Is HD more real than reality anymore? I agree, on DVR it looks that way, but then again, I guess you just had to be there…

    oh wait

    I was.

  10. Hold the phone… who’s this AZ Kevin cat. He’s using my signature and everything… Bro (or sis for that matter) – get your facts straight. It was our College group there. I was sitting at John’s house watching his massive 1080 in total comfort with friends…

“on 04 Feb 2008 at 2:47 am” *psh* Like I would be up that early the day after a Sunday… My wife will verify that the real PKLN was still out cold at 2:47 am considering the snooze button was invoked 4 times this morning after my usual 3:15 am wake-up call… Dude – not cool.

Either way, I couldn’t tell, cuz John’s dish was a little off all night esp. when they showed people close-up talking – either that or the HD was way to HD. I know the recording on iTunes has been there before with different lables though – “as performed at the NBA Finals” for instance. The recording is studio and could have been used, but I doubt it (with a glimmering hope that she wouldn’t do that…) Either way, recorded or not, she still sang it that way at one point and is an amazing singer… It helps she goes to church right up the street and still holds her faith above her fame.

~THE REAL PKLN (seriously… Tyler, you trying to goof with me again?)

  11. It was not lip synced. Got to go with AZ Kevin on this one

  15. Ya, it’s me… I was going to see how much flack I could catch for you but it seems as though it’s calmed down… Just wanted to rub it in that I was there, in Glendale when your history didn’t come true!

    GO BIG BLUE!!!

  16. This is the greatest thread ever!

  17. The funny thing is that I almost always stay away from the comments #1 because my time is very stretched in a day (working two jobs and all), and #2 because I know I have the disposition to get sucked into conversations since I typically have strong opinions on a wide range of topics. I just wanted to see what people were saying about my hometown girl, and *PRESTO!* I find my identity jacked and being used for evil. I wonder what he would have said if I wouldn’t have interrupted though…
