Josh GriffinMore PostsCreative Invitations for Easter

Just left a meeting talking about Easter planning – there’s a ton that goes into the weekend of Easter since so many people visit church that weekend. As we talked about marketing and advertising, some of the “standard” stuff we do came up – personal invitations, newspaper advertising, banners/signage, etc. I thought it might be fun to hear about what you’re doing this year to get the word out about your church’s Easter services! Got a creative idea? Did you do something that really worked last year?

Skywriting is probably out – but everything else is fair game! I’ll forward this post on to the lead person for Easter, would love to start a conversation about this to help everyone have a great turnout!

  1. A few years ago we did a big campaign for the 40 days of purpose calling it “got purpose?”

Not that exciting, but what we did was to produce a ton of yard signs (like you see with the political campaign) and had every church member put one in their yard. It works especially around the campaign seasons…It gave a good representation as to how many people from the area were actually attending our church as you drove around as well as gave people something to talk about with their neighbors.

  2. My in-laws attend World Outreach Church in Murfreesboro, TN. They do one big Easter service and rent out the basketball stadium at Middle Tennessee St. Univ. To advertise they give coffee mugs with all the details to members and they give them to people to invite to the Easter Services. They call it ‘Mug Your Neighbor’

  3. “Mug Your Neighbor”……Hmmmm….that gives me a great idea! I think you should actually steal something from your neighbor. Then, the night before your Easter service, send them a note telling them what you stole and where you’re going to be the next morning. They’re bound to show up. If not them, maybe a few police officers. Hey, law enforcement need the Lord too.

  4. My church is planning on reaching the community this year by asking them what they want to hear. We will be advertising through the Newspaper directing them to a blog we are setting up to ask any and every question they have about anything Christian. we are then going to put together a series that revolves around these questions.

  5. billboards…they work for us
thousands of people per day drive by plus we are lucky enough to get our sign right next to the venue…works out good for us!

  6. We used view finders as invites for Christmas. The series was “a new view of Christmas”. You could use this concept for any topic. Check it out on my blog by following this link to see more- http://jodyearley.com/2007/11/big-days-and-big-ideas-part-1-of-2.html

  7. These are great – anyone have any more?
