Tom from Interactive Church sent me this picture of the RF voting clicker deals we used at the Group Conference for the interactive elements on stage during the general sessions. They were so popular and people really seemed to love the technology. Be sure to check out their website – AND – the first youth pastor to email him today will receive $20 gift certificate toward their next purchase from Simply Youth Ministry. Sweet!

UPDATE: The best comment on this blog post will win a Interactive Church polo shirt, too!

It isn’t the blue polo shirt that was too small for you in that one podcast is it?
Does this count: “the best comment on this blog post”?
Now I’ve officially posted the best comment on this blog post.
On a serious note, those clicky things were cool. I had actually used them the day before the NYMC at a seminar in my hometown on infant adoption. I felt like a rockstar because I knew the official name for the system was Turning Point, even though they had that name covered up with a sticker that said Interactive Church. I should have gotten a polo at the conference just for that!
I’d buy them for my ministry if we weren’t poor. It’s a unique and fun way to engage your audience.
Man, I hope I got my email in there on time. Could definitely use that gift certificate.
I love those interactive clickers. I use them in my youth ministry. Every week my students use them and love it! It’s a great way to have fun and see where students are at in any given topic.
Ok. I have to admit. This was a shameless plug from Tom’s youth pastor…I hope I still qualify for the polo shirt.
Sweet. “American Pastor” here we come! I can just see the ad-line for the show, “Vote your pastor off now and get a new one!”
Nothing says “cool” like an Interactive Church polo shirt….
No, wait…
Nothing says, “Youth Pastor” like a “free” Interactive Church polo shirt.
Leave it to me to be a day late and a dollar short for the first e-mail to Tom and to have the “best comment on this blog post.” But I got caught up in the day-dream of how one might use these in worship…would you project questions about the sermon? “Is this sermon boring? click 1 for no, click 2 for yes, click 4 for not paying attention, click 5 for catching up on much needed sleep.” Or what if you would poll the congregation about time spent each week studying the Bible or sharing a faith story? Clearly, there is an advantage to using a system like this. Maybe I’ll put it on my Christmas list. It’d be a ho, ho, whole lot of fun! Cheers!
As I see it there in a tote
Filled with clickers for us to vote
Pick one up at the door
Buy a dozen and you won’t be poor
They say what’s good heart, is also good for the ticker
Buck up folks and enjoy the interactive clicker.
Instant results at the moment you like
Do you prefer the red or blue bike?
I don’t like ‘em big, don’t need a moomoo
What is that smell? Oh it is just…me trying to get something free and this is me letting you know that my prefered size is mudium.
Is there a new “sizing scale” or is it just for interactive church merchandise? You should probably give the shirt to Erik, because I don’t even know what mudium means.
If I win I would like an Extru lurge.
I can imagine one of my technologically impared parishioners confusing the Interactive Church Clicker with some sort of television remote… And, knowing this individual, I can also imagine him saying quite loudly during my sermon, “I keep hitting the GO button, but she just won’t quit talking,” or “Which one of these things controls the volume?”
I have used those clickers in some of my college classes. They are kinda neat. It might be difficult to use them in church services. They can be distracting too.
Okay random idea… Improv night
You stand on the stage trying to be serious and behind you the screen is asking random questions the youth have to poll on…should josh cluck like a chicken…should he turn his shirt inside out…. All the time youare being serious or tying to do an interview….
2XL please
Brian Bliss wins! Yeah! JG
I am humbled and honored to win such an *outstanding* prize. Yes, humbled and honored. I only hope that I can do the shirt justice. And that it comes in an XL.
Oh, and it’s Bryan Bliss…:)
