Josh GriffinMore PostsPOLL: When was your most recent vacation?

We’ve got a good one planned for this August … but it’s been too long since our family took a break from youth ministry. I’ve got some time saved up right now.

  1. As a volunteer, I get into a double bind. It’s REALLY easy to use church trips as my vacation, and never taking time for me to visit family or friends, or just try something new.

In my “for profit” job, I get roughly 3 weeks of PTO, which includes sick leave and vacation. I usually spent about a week and a half on church stuff, between camps and retreats. I was always pressured into going on our church’s Mexico work trip, and although I had the vacation time, I had to say “no”, so I could use that time for myself. That was a boundary I had to establish.

  2. i am a full student ministries pastor in Las Vegas and i went to san diego last week to escape the heat… YEAH RIGHT! they had record temps of over 100. oh well it was still awesome. lots of golf and beach. I love so. cal… i was student ministries pastor in san diego for 4 yrs. i sooo miss it. i think God is more present in so. cal… ;-)
