I did a little study this morning for the HSM team meeting on Hebrews 12:1. My focus was primarily on just 3 words from that verse: run … with patience. Here’s the application for our team in the weeks ahead:
Run (increased capacity)
Our workload is increasing. With the opening of The Refinery and the addition of a new service time, things are starting to really heat up. Summer isn’t going to slow down for us this year. Honestly, it is a super-exciting day for High School Ministry, but at the same time, great challenges lay ahead. Our staff team isn’t going to grow this year. Our budget isn’t going to grow this year. We need to increase our capacity in order to meet the demand. That means working smarter, working harder and empowering an army of volunteers. The minimum level of contribution on this team just increased 25%. One word: PACE.With Patience (increased teamwork)
As the intensity of a team increases with responsibility and workload, so should the grace given to each other. Trust and teamwork are critical as the inevitable tensions increase. The team is expected to do more and more, and tempers can flare more easily with the added pressure. Challenging interactions can chip away at the core of a team. The team will grow together into a tight-knit, well-oiled machine – or it will implode. As the pace quickens and pressure increases, stay close to God and close to each other. ONE WORD: Grace.
