Message Title: Love is Selfless
Sermon in a Sentence: Jesus demonstrated God’s love by serving and we are called to live the same and follow His example.

Key Verse: 1 Cor. 13:4-5 “Love cares more for others than for self… it isn’t always me first.”

Weekend Scale of Difficulty: 7 out of 10. A service filled with videos including a video message shot with Josh in the Dominican Republic.
Attendance: Up 3% from last weekend, up 90% from same weekend last year

Service Length: 62 minutes
Understandable Message: Jason Petty introduced the video message from Josh that was shot while in the Dominican Republic. That single video that lasted 16 minutes and explained the crisis of a nation, how Jesus cared for those who were in desperate need and how people are getting involved to help those around them. Wherever you are serve those around you with whatever you can (we’ll be sure to post the video this week).

Volunteer/Student Involvement: Students ran the lights, sound, cameras and band this weekend. For the second week in a row an adult volunteer took the stage at the beginning to talk about HSM’s participation in the upcoming LA AIDS Walk, among other announcements.

Element of Fun/Positive Environment: When the volunteer giving announcements encouraged more guys to get involved with the AIDS walk. He tried to persuade them by saying there was only 1 guy signed up to the 20 girls.

Music Playlist: Consuming Fire, Holy Moment, How Great is Our God, I am Yours

Favorite Moment: Seeing students’ reaction to the video when kids’ old, destroyed, unusable shoes were replaced with a brand new pair. These shoes came from the 40,000+ shoes that High School and Jr. High students collected during our Global Soles campaign last spring. They are beginning to realize how big of a difference they can make in the world when they work together to help others.
