Big Event Planning

Josh on December 14th, 2007

I’m writing a new article for Simply Youth Ministry this weekend and the thrust of it is how to plan a big event. I’ve come up with 9 considerations to be aware of when planning the first meeting – have you got one to add to this list?

  • Heart - why are we doing this?
  • Target Audience – who are we trying to reach?
  • Purpose – which biblical purpose is primary?
  • History - what have we done like this in the past?
  • Goal - what is success?
  • Explanation – can you define insider language? Time for questions.
  • Specifics – who does what? what are the next steps?
  • Marketing – how are we going to let students know about the event?
  • Follow-up – when are we meeting again?

hey josh, what about crowd control/greeters. people who are in place to meet and care for students as they arrive and to point them to the proper places to go. just a thought…the others you have are great!

These are both great! Adding them in now … anyone else?
