Curriculum Party

Josh on February 11th, 2009

I’m sitting in a coffee shop this morning, at a Curriculum Party. What is a curriculum party? Glad you asked!

It is something new we’re trying this week – the purpose is to get small group materials in the hands of leader as well as spend some time relationally together. I’d rather spend a couple bucks buying a small group leader coffee and hand-delivering the materials than waste it on postage.

For $3 a leader, I get a face-to-face interaction, the material handoff and a drink to thank them for their hard work. Its fun to be on their turf and not at the church, and it gives you a chance to see them in action in real-life, too.

Here’s the letter that Jason sent out this week:

Lovely HSM Leader!

You have been cordially invited to join members of the HSM staff and other small groups leaders for some free coffee, great fellowship, high 5’s and 9 weeks of curriculum.

When: Wednesday, February 11th, 7-10am and 3-6 pm.

Where: We will be strategically located throughout the Saddleback Valley in 3 locations (side note: These locations were debated at length by our staff):

  • 1. Starbuck’s at Antonio Plaza
  • 2. Peet’s Coffee and Tea by the 5
  • 3. Saddleback Refinery (if you need a map you probably should not be getting this email).

You DO NOT have to RSVP. Just show up on your way to or from work/school, grab a beverage, the leader & student curriculum and hang out as long as you want! If you can’t make it (which would be a real shame) we will mail the curriculum out on Thursday morning.

Hope to see you there!

You could deliver all of your curriculum on Valentine’s Day to show that you REALLY love your leaders…

Not too bad … it was our first time, and I think it will improve. Some of the conversations totally made it worth it though – some people came to pick up their stuff, others definitely came to chat. Fun!
