In my quest for finding bibles that would spark a desire in junior highers to explore God’s Word, I’ve found a few over the years that I really like:
* The Life Application Bible for Students.
* The LIVE Bible.
* The One-Minute Bible for Students
* The new Simple Truth Bible (My personal favorite! Not a traditional bible…but a creative way to engage students in scripture)
It’s time to add a new one to the list: IGNITE
IGNITE is the newest entry into the youth Bible category and it’s fantastic. My good buddy, Mark Oestreicher served as the general editor and gathered a great team of contributors including Scott Rubin, Brooklyn Lindsey, Steve Case, Jeremy Lee, Anne Jackson and others.
The book introductions, and wide variety of commentary are engaging and just the right length to make teenagers actually want to read them! It’s tough to get teenagers actually reading the Bible on their own, and I applaud Marko and IGNITE for giving us another chance at it!
