Awesome – and oh so true. Been in youth ministry for about 10 years alltogether and my first overnight was disastrous – one broken ankle, two snuck out sprayed silly string on cars (silly string when dried overnight removes paint), make up on the sleeping ones. I’ve gotten used to the goofy stuff and am thankful that my teens can be themselves and know I still love them, even when I’m explaining to parents about paint coming off their cars or calling one to meet me at the ER. That’s how they are and if you think your teens aren’t doing it – you need to bond more with them – let them see you real and they will share that part of their life with you eventually and then you can truly be in their lives – they will open up to you and then God just takes over and guides it all. But with some teens – you have to get to the point that they trust you with every ounce of their being before you can lead them to a relationship with God. When you get there – it’s a feeling like no other, even in the bad times. Just love them and love their creativity and enthusiasm to try anything – be prepared to jump off cliff’s with them.

you have a point about not influencing your kids to do stuff like peeing on a van, BUT it wasn’t written for them to watch. It was written for the youth leader in mind. For us YM who have seen these types of things and relate to it. That is why it is funny. I thought it was awesome, they showed this at the youth ministry convention and it was a hit there.

Some of you definately need to get into the real world. If none of your kids do this type of stuff (over conglomerated into one night FOR HUMOR) during overnighters or other non-study times, then I will guarantee you that they are doing (or watching) this type of crazy stuff when they are out with their friends. Just because you aren’t privy to crazy teen activity doesn’t mean that it is not happening.

About the “serious” side. I’ve been in YM for ummm what year is this. Oh yeah 23 yrs now. I have seen it all. just ask me about or last beach retreat. anyway. Great video. What was i saying. oh yeah…

i say hook them with this video. Advertise the lock-in then get them and their friends to come to church for the first time. Have some fun then open their eyes and hearts to Jesus, their new best friend that they also may be meeting for the first time. Cuz you know… Jesus loves to laugh. I know He laughs with me (at me) every time i think I’m in control… lol Loved it. thanks

Ok… Josh, Dude… I don’t like the low bar humor either. Rise above the trash. In a world where we are suppose to go against the culture and combat behaviors that are negative and or illegal, I’m disappointed but why would you care. I’m just over reacting like Skip. I’ve just spent a day getting forms together for adults who have to have a background check to breath in my church let alone work with our kids and this is the reminder in my mailbox of how far we have yet to go to clean up our acts in ministry. Thinking would be good. Praying would be better.

my next overnighter is May 25 – and NO you can not send your kids over to mine and count it as yours. Best story – at 3 am the kids convinced me to show the bootlegged copy of the final Star Wars which had only been in the theatres about 3 weeks. I knew better – didn’t I? The parents sure thought I should have!

OK – Bear with me for just a minit.
Is it because I’ve been around awhile, or maybe I’m getting “disengaged” from today’s Youth Culture, but aren’t we supposed to be raising the spiritual bar for our kids? I mean, just because kids do stupid, and many times objectionable, things (like peeing on the pastor’s van) do we celebrate that in a video? (Hey, we never thot about doin’ that – that’s cool – and it’s on the video our LEADER showed us so it must be OK!)

One thing I know about teens: If you give them “permission” to do it – they’ll do it.

So for the “rare” (God forgive us) group that wouldn’t consider doing some of the really stupid stuff on the video (burning hair or urinating on someone else’s property), or for the group whose leaders have prayerfully, and with the help of the Holy Spirit, instilled a sense of – dare I say it on line? – holiness in their teens, this video says, “Hey, you’re missin’ out on the fun, people. And by the way, it’s sanctioned by the Adult Leaders so go for it.”
It’s just what teens do anyway – isn’t it?

Just a thot. Outside of that, I thought the vid was hilarious.
