I realize that this poll is a little jarring to be hit with on a Monday morning … but I would love your anonymous honesty. Youth workers – are you looking at porn?

This week’s poll isn’t for everyone – but I’m curious whether or not you can drive a bus. In my first church, I was asked by the leadership to get a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) to drive the church bus for big events and camps – I ended up driving it for everyone and everything! Where I serve now it isn’t a necessity so I let it lapse. How about you? Just curious!

Was talking to some younger youth workers this past week and they had a great question – when do you take vacation from your church/youth ministry? Is there a particular time of the year or month that is easiest, best or most needed personally? Vote in this week’s poll and explain your answers in the comments.
For me, I love August – the calm before the “back to school” storm. And recently I’ve started to really embrace Christmas season as well. That one is still busy at the church, but there’s plenty of time to be stolen/taken off there to give you a break from the day to day of youth group. Thoughts?

Was teaching this week at a denominational gathering of youth workers and it made me think – I wonder how many of our students know what denomination our church is (Southern Baptist, if you didn’t know either)? Some churches are more obvious and have it right in the name, but it seems like many are now a bit more ambiguous. How about your setting? Is it important? Vote in the poll and let me know what you think in the comments!

There are more coaching networks, blogs and events than ever that specialize in youth ministry. Made my wonder where you are best being mentored/coached … if at all? Vote in this week’s poll!

HSM sends out probably 2 text messages a week to our students – was wondering if there was a magic number above or below what we’re currently sending. If you don’t text … it is probably the most effective way we communicate with our students (Facebook being the only other real option in this culture). For more info on a couple of great mass texting services, be sure to check out this post: The Only Way We Communicate to Students – and vote in today’s poll!
