Question of the week: how many hours do you take during the week to prepare the message for youth group? There’s an option if you aren’t the speaker/communicator, though I’d love it if you would estimate how much time you would take to prepare.

Heading into a great youth ministry summer with some great times ahead! Which of these summer 2010 movies are you most excited about?

The MTDB Poll of the Week centers around the percentage of students you have in your youth group (jr high and senior high combined) compared to the attendance in adult services. From my experience, the general “rule of thumb” here is 10% – I’m afraid that generalization may only lead to arrogance or defeat. What percentage is a good average for your ministry?

I love reading business books – but take in a fair share of other genres as well. How about you – vote in today’s poll!

Been thinking about that old statistic that always gets thrown out about how long youth workers stay at a church. Thought it might be interesting to see how long your shortest stay was on a church staff. Vote now!

Saddleback’s email servers have been down the past 2 days, leaving me completely out of touch with email with nothing coming in or going out. The tech wizards assure us it’ll be back in the morning – thought I would ask you what type of email load you face on a typical day, too.

This year we’re changing up when we do camp – we’ve been “end of summer” for several years now, and this year we’re going with early summer. What do you think works best in your setting?

New poll today – what does your youth ministry look like this summer?

Loved the honesty of the Skit Guys talking this weekend (at SYMC) about not having read the Bible from cover to cover before. Got me thinking about this poll question for youth workers – have you read the Bible all of the way through? Not meant to induce a ton of guilt, just curious.

I try to plan our High School Ministry’s teaching calendar about 6 months in advance. Keep in mind there aren’t a lot of details, the series titles and maybe a little arc of where it is headed and what we’re hoping to convey. As we get closer to the series, more details come into place and then the week of, the final outline is done. How about you?
