Josh GriffinMore Posts Gamerscore Bungies Past 58,000

This week our Xbox 360 crossed 58,000 in Gamerscore – thanks in part to the next installment of the Halo franchise. Took a break from gaming this week to give you a few quick reviews:

Jetpack Joyride (A+): One of the funnest iOS games makes its way to Windows 8 and is incredibly fun on a laptop. Such a great game – play it on whatever platform you can, the game is genius.
Halo 4 (A+): This may very well be the best Halo game ever made. As a fan of the franchise since the beginning, it was fun to pick up a copy of the game and play straight through it in 4-player co-op. Incredible cinemas. Epic multiplayer. Unreal graphics. Fun x 1000.
LEGO Batman 2 (A-): Another winning installment in the LEGO video game franchise. Such a fun game – my kids ate it up and have already beaten it several times. Super, super fun family game!

Josh GriffinMore Posts Gamerscore Reaches 55,000

It has taken me longer than usual this month … too much real-life/youth ministry getting in the way of my videogaming, but my Xbox360 gamerscore is now up over 55,000 points. The 1,000+ increase over the last update was due to some serious and not-so-serious gaming:

007: Blood Stone (B+) – fun James Bond game, run and gun the whole thing
Air Conflicts: Secret Wars (D-) – completely unplayable. Bummed I even paid $16 for it.
Kinect Sports: Season 2 (B+) – fun for the whole family, really really fun.
Madagascar 3 (C+) – kids loved this one, we never did see the movie!

Josh GriffinMore Posts POLL: Mature [M] Rated Videogames at a Youth Group Event

The topic of video games is in the news with last week’s release of the Xbox360-exclusive Gears of War 3 (aside: Walt Mueller had a fantastic article on the subject last week here). This week’s poll question is one about the appropriateness of an M-rated game at a youth function. Full disclosure: for several years we did a HALO-ween event that was a total blast and very well received, but I think it might be an exception to the norm. Thoughts? Would love your vote and a discussion on the subject!

Josh GriffinMore Posts Xbox 360 Gamerscore Edges 49,000

Enjoyed some video gaming this month in a diversion from the extremes of youth ministry – our Xbox 360 Gamerscore crossed 49,000 last night, in part to Hard Corps Uprising (sequel to Contra, A-), Limbo (cinematic arcade game, A+), Portal 2 (hilarious puzzle game, A+) and Crysis 2 (awesome shooter, A+). Incredible games, some of the best I’ve ever played!

Josh GriffinMore Posts Gamerscore Passes 48,000

This week off from work spending time with the kids paid off in a nice little boost in Gamerscore on the Xbox 360. We tackled the cheesy Eat Led: The Return of Matt Hazard (B-), got to 100% on Lego Star Wars III: The Clone Wars (A+), beat the party game Rio (B-) and saved America from United Korea in Homefront (A-).

Josh GriffinMore Posts Gamerscore Blows By 43,000

Fun holiday gaming with the kids and the Kinect equaled a nice rise in Gamerscore this month, thanks in part to games like Kinectimals (A), Kinect Adventures (B) and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed II (B+). A little holiday gaming with the kids. Fun!

Thanks to some late-night video gaming, the family Xbox 360 crossed 42,000 in Gamerscore this weekend. The kids are loving the new Kinect, and got a bunch of points from Stranglehold (C), Prince Caspian (C), Heroes Over Europe (C+) and Pac Man CE DX (A+) . So fun!

Josh GriffinMore Posts Gamerscore Rolls Up Over 41,000

Thanks to some much-needed time off over Thanksgiving break, the family Xbox 360 crossed 41,000 in Gamerscore. Still loving the new Kinect, and got a bunch of points from Kinect Sports (A-), Dance Central (A+), Wet (B) and HAWX 2 (B). Good times!
