3 More Family Dinner Games

on January 9th, 2009

You know we play games at dinner and have a weekly bucket list of fun family stuff to do. Here’s a few more games we’ve added to dinner game time these days:

The Face Game – Easily my favorite game we play! Dad calls out an emotion (angry, sad, upset) and each of the kids have to make the face that was named. Hilarious faces and tons of laughter around the table. My favorite emotions are “nervous,” “hungry” and “about to get hit by an asteroid.” OK, so that’s not really an emotion, but it makes for some amazing faces.

Alphabet Game – This is a good one for learning the sounds of letters. We simply start with “A” and can list anything that starts with that letter. Then we go to “B” and do the same. The game runs out of steam by the end and there’s a few letters that are challenging for 5-year olds, but the game still makes everyone think and smile.

List As Many Game – This game we start with a category, and list as many of each item as we can as we go around the table. For example, dad calls out the category “color” and the first person calls out a color. Then you go around the table and keep listing colors until you can’t name any more. Fun, though it favors the older kids for sure.

And as always, we play 3 rounds of each game, but the 3rd round can’t start until the plates are clean. Works every time!

Mine are much to young to play these type of games, but I can imagine how much fun they will be.
