3 of the Worst Toys to Step on at Night
This post has everything to do with my feet. Having a few kids, we from time to time … well, all of the time, have toys on our floor. I’ve had a particularly rough week when it comes to stepping on toys in the dark, so I thought I would share 3 toys that if bought for your children are sure to cause nighttime regrets soon after. Here’s the worst offenders:
Bob the Builder Duplo Legos – Hard unforgiving plastic. Relatively sharp corners. Where there is one, there is a million. You step on one, react, step on another, causing a chain reation of events that will eventually leave you flat on your lego-imprinted back. No wonder as a kid mom made me pick up the Legos at night.
Planet Heroes Vehicles – here’s the short of it: they have wheels. Not only are there inflexible parts that dig into your foot causing significant pain, but they move just enough to completely throw off your balance. And while I haven’t completely bit it, this little gem could easily cause a wrenched back or a quick snap of the spine.
Star Wars Galactic Heroes – one word: lightsabers. These little $7 pieces of molded plastic are like toy landmines on the living room battlefield. Your feet cannot be prepared for the pain. As a big Star Wars fan these have to be in my house, but who knew that lightsabers hurt that bad?

Having 3 young kids myself…we have to add to the list!
- Thomas the Train – same as the legos but add wheels – if there is one, there is another! Or tracks! Or bridges!
- Crowns – our little princess leaves these jeweled items out for our feet to find.
- Crayons – they break and you roll on them. Add enough crayons and you are laying in them!
