6 Magazines I Read Every Month

on March 21st, 2008

I love magazines. Even in the web-world I like to live in, there’s something to be said for old fashioned print mag. Of course, I haven’t picked up a newspaper in … well, forever. Here’s the magazines I read:

Electronic Gaming Monthly – the best videogame magazine around. It covers all platforms and the reviews are usually pretty solid. The rumor section is often right but there isn’t too much depth, the previews are the best part and the feature articles are usually great.

Wired – the best geek magazine on the planet. The content is fast and furious, I read every article because they can make anything interesting. Great gear reviews, great news source, a firm handle on what is wired, tired or expired. And at $10 a YEAR … everyone should be getting this magazine.

CCM – I’m not sure why I get this magazine, something I was affiliated in once must have advertised with them or something. I enjoy Christian music, but not enough to follow the road life of even David Crowder. Now if they started including a CD with each issue … maybe.

Fast Company – this one actually gets delivered to the church, but I steal it from whoever is supposed to get it and read it through. I’m amazed at how much of the business world can apply to the church. Maybe that’s my business degree talking though?

Group – the most popular youth ministry magazine around. I love it (full disclosure: I had a small piece in last month’s issue) but it has some great advice and instruction. There’s parts of it I definitely don’t need/read, but for the most part the regular monthly colums are strong and helpful.

Relevant – another magazine that gets delivered to the church that I dig. I think sometimes it comes across as bandwagon or cliche, but I still really enjoy it. It definitely has a social slant to it all, but I dig that so I guess I’m in. Looks trendy, solid art, good stuff.
