I just added software to it that doesn't void the warranty it's called BOXEE. It's great! It puts CBS, HULU, Comedy Central and more right on your appleTV to watch for free. I tried it out. It takes much longer to download each show and there are still ads. I tried it since it was free, but it is waaaaay cooler than I thought it would be. I'm thinking of making the switch to internet like you did; free online sites and then Netflix for about 10,000 other options. It's $9 a month and unlimited viewing (they used to cap it at a certain number of hours). It even has TV shows that are currently airing and not on dvd yet like Heroes and The Office.
