I ask you...those who have left cynical comments about this, have you even stopped and talked to a starbucks employee about what they think about this? or as most of us do...base our opinion on an article written in "churchmarketingsucks.com." my friend was quite skeptical about this initially...he thought it would bore everyone to death. but to his surprise, it lit a fire in everyone. he compared it to how he feels after a really good bible study discussion. whether or not our coffee tastes better, it's not just about the buzz. it's like singing during worship...it's not about how much better we sing, but where are our hearts? howard schultz wanted to bring the heart of the company back. should we follow suit in our own ministries? i guess my commect would be…”don’t hate, congratulate.” a good friend of mine is in starbucks management and i actually spoke with him regarding this 3 hour training. Churches in general need more training and less "assuming" everyone knows how to do their jobs. Josh, how many youth leaders brought some of their leadership teams with them to the conf in Cincy? Wish I had known about this 6 hours ago when I needed a latte. Dang. Well you can't win them all. I'm really thinking about this training thing, though. I'm developing major training for next fall with workshops interspersed throughout the year. I can't wait to get started on it--the actual training interaction, I mean. Working with leaders as we focus on youth ministry and why we do it is one of my favorite things to do. Those "a-ha!" moments are cherished and sharing different perspectives with each other is great. Maybe I'll see if I can get that free latte in the morning. Yawn. Time for bed! Blog ya later!
