This is a great article. I hope is has an even wider audience. Too many church leaders, not just YP’s want to change things too soon and not build the relationship to stand one. The advice about listening was given to me by Rev. Brett Allen when I first came to my present post…It was the best advice I received and pass it along to others who have ears to hear. Great job Josh, I am proud of you. Dr. Sam P.S. Your fathers door was too small because of his chest when he read your article and we had to make a new door to get him out of his office…JK about the door..:).

Hey Sue! I’m sorry you feel neglected by your child’s Youth Pastor, but I’m sure it’s not intentional. My advice: I would encourage you to approach the Youth Pastor and express your interest in wanting to be involved.

Thanks for the words. I’m one of those “neglected” parents who stumbled on your blog as I searched for guidance on what I would like to say to my YM. Its interesting to read the perspective from the other side, and gives me something to think about as I struggle.
