“No Screens” to Start Your Day

I’m excited about a consideration that Kurt asked all of our Student Ministries team to make at the last team meeting. He asked us to come in each morning and abide by a “no screens” policy for a few minutes at the office. No laptop, no phone, no PDA (do people still have those?), no computer, no iPod, nothing.
Use those first few minutes to spend some time with God, Bible reading, prayer, and focused planning on the day. Maybe journal a few minutes, think about priorities and encouraging co-workers. too quickly we jump into email and tasks and forget to start out right.
Well …. I’ve done it all week – I love it!

I’ve been doing this for a little less than a month – what a difference! It used to be that the first thing I would do in the morning was check e-mail, then quiet time. Let’s just say that checking e-mail first can get you heading in a hundred different directions (none of which is towards that quiet time, by the way).
Since I’ve been doing it I’ve definitely seen the difference (and so have people around me – like my wife – WIN!).
