Certainly there is plenty to do - and we could all work 70, 80, or more hours per week. But what good would that do? You'd only be communicating something unhealthy to your youth and their families (not to mention to your family or friends). We are more than the "job" we do. Our ministry and our calling is more than our "career".

i burnt the candle at both ends and in the middle this summer, so much that i got this terrible cold, so i went to my doctor and he gave me like 3 meds...i hate being sick! at this point some may be reading this and the haters may be chiming in.."duh...you need to slow down and not work so hard" the only problem is when ministry is life it's hard to separate the work from the life of ministry.

Yeah, I put less than 40 hours a week...i've just gotten to the point where I can get in, get it done, and then spend the rest of my time with the family, etc. It helps when you have a Senior Pastor/Church that supports this, too...

Many of you may feel the same, but I can not always say that I "feel" as if I am working, I mean it is something we love and enjoy. I could read, prep, plan, meet, dream, blog, and live ministry all day long and not miss much else (although the admin part I could mostly do without). So my real measurement isnt how many hours a week I work, but how many hours I give my family.
Just my 2 Cents

as a bivocational youth leader, I worked 40 hours a week at my regular job and then 30-40 hours with the Youth a week. I am trying to work smarter, but after just taking over the group in April I had to develop relationships and get a summer program together in a hurry.

It is all about working smarter not harder. I trully believe in working smarter when it comes to ministering to Youth and I speak to this at http://evangelizetheyouth.com/
