ReThink Conference – George H.W. Bush

on January 18th, 2008

Got to sneak up to the ReThink Conference today to hear a few of their big keynote speakers. I’ve actually never been there before, it was super nice (pictures in another post shortly). After getting a badge and doing some volunteer work for the ladies at the registration table, I jumped into a session with former president George H.W. Bush. Here’s some of the highlights from his very genuine live conversation with Robert Schuller:

What to look for in a good leader
Someone who is grounded in values
Someone who doesn’t steal the limelight
Someone who gives credit away
Someone who delegates
Someone who doesn’t have to be the center of attention

Some great humor in his talk, especially talking about skydiving, “read my lips” and a poignant moment talking about losing a child to leukemia. A very honest, casual interview that was the highlight of the day for me.
