This Program Is For You

on January 15th, 2008

This weekend during the teaching Fields’ taught a great point about the purpose of the weekend, entry-level crowd program to our students. Here’s the three reasons he said the weekend was for everyone :

Spiritually
Relationally
Evangelistically

First off, everyone can grow. Whether it is a lesson with one verse of Scripture or an in-depth study through an entire passage, you should be growing. I even wonder if saying “you aren’t being fed” is a sign of spiritual immaturity. And let’s not forget that the weekend service is a great time to connect. It is a great time for the beginnings of Christian community to appear. We want to move students into small groups, but the weekend is a great first step. Finally, the weekend service is geared toward seekers, stumbles and the sold out. Bring a friend to this warm, safe environment to have them be introduced to Jesus. You don’t have to preach necessarily, just bring.

Good stuff!

That “I’m not being fed” drives me crazy and I totally agree that the statement is often a sign of immaturity. I always question my students when they say stuff like that. The ironic thing is that it’s almost always the students who think they are super mature or have it all together.
